Does the DJ understand the assignment? We listen for great music, a welcoming crowd, and that unmistakable energy when the whole rink finds its groove.

THE TEN TRIALS.
Every roller rink has to face the Ten Trials: our entertaining, independent way of looking at the skating floor, music, sessions, value, and all the little details that make a rink memorable. We start with the vibe, save the admission-price reveal for Trial Ten, and finish with the Destination Rink verdict. Some trials are serious. Some involve nachos. All ten matter.
Parking, check-in, skate rentals, restrooms: the unglamorous stuff that can make or break a skate night before the first lap.
Are the hours and sessions worth planning around—or do you spend more time checking the schedule than skating? We look at access, variety, and time on the floor.
Can new skaters and little wheels have fun without feeling like traffic cones? We look at family sessions, beginner friendliness, and whether everyone gets a chance to roll.
Arcades, seating, events, and other things to do when your legs demand a union break. We look at the extras that make a rink a destination.
Is there a decent bite between laps, or is dinner a suspiciously ancient nacho? We check selection, quality, and whether the snack bar earns its place.
The details you notice once the novelty wears off: upkeep, cleanliness, lighting, and whether the building feels loved—or forgotten.
When the lights drop, does the rink come alive? We check the adult-night music, atmosphere, flow, and whether the session has its own skating personality.
Is the skating surface just right—or does every lap feel like a surprise pothole audition? We look at smoothness, grip, maintenance, and how confidently skaters can roll.
After nine Trials, what is the experience really worth? We reveal admission and consider session length, rentals, extras, and whether we would happily pay to come back.
Pass at least eight of the ten Trials and a rink can earn our Destination Rink designation. Our official reviews are independent, sponsorships never buy a passing grade, and the community Floor Score is a separate rating.
